Editing: Thoughts on rough cut edit

As we have concluded our filming, we are now in the process of creating a rough cut which will demonstrate the basis of our final music video. Firstly, what I realised about editing a music video is how different it is to editing a thriller (which we did last year). I found it extremely difficult to get the artist in synch with our chosen song. Our group found that, our artist was slightly off when mouthing the lyrics to the song, but soon began singing in time with the song again, which means were going to use only the parts when she is in synch with the song. We also had a problem with locating some footage we had taken, but soon recovered the lost footage again. As the editing process got harder, our group began losing concentration. Despite this, I believe we are still in a good position to have a rough cut ready in time for class on Tuesday. Having received some help from the media technicians, I was able to demonstrate my ability to use markers on sound and footage and how to edit footage according to the beat.
