Research: Stop Motion Animation

Stop Motion Animation
As I have analysed Kate Nash’s “Foundations” video in another blog post, I found that she uses stop motion animation. Stop motion animation is when you physically manipulate an object to make it appear as if it is moving on its own. In Kate Nash’s video you will find how she uses stop motion animation on a pair of socks:

Other examples of stop motion animation includes a clip taken from YouTube below:

In the Kinder clip, you will find how the wrapper from the egg is slowly being peeled away.  Then it looks as if the chocolate egg is slowly being eaten, until the yellow egg is left. The yellow egg then lets out the toy which soon becomes a toy car, followed up by a row of 3 Kinder eggs. What I like most about this stop motion animation is the way they have physically manipulated the egg into becoming a toy.

Our group have decided on also using stop motion animation in our music video. We are going to physically manipulate cupcakes and lemons. I also suggested we use a flip book, which contributes to the entire stop motion animation theme.
