4 Minute - Hot Issue
I chose to analyse a k-pop music video as its one of my favorite songs and I feel there is technical skills and mise-en-scene I can consider to use. Firstly, I love the theme of the music video. Its got a catchy beat which reflects in the editing (which follows Vernallis's theory of edits corresponding with track). Also, there is alot of lighting used, to make the music video more attractive. Considering the group are all female, it highlights the fact that 'girls want to have fun' and the funky colours, mise-en-scene and lighting help to expose this. Dance is a main part of this video ( which follows the theory of Andrew Goodwin's on Illustration), as it adds energy to the performance and music video as a whole. Furthermore, I like the fact that the music video is done indoors - in a studio, but still have different scenes. Overall, the music video is striking, very bright and energetic. Perfect ingredients for an effective music video - which I will consider in my own music video.
